Woman hit by train in front of mother's eyes

KOTTAYAM: In a tragic incident, a woman was hit by a train in front of her mother while crossing the tracks near Kumaranalloor station. The deceased is Smitha (42), the wife of Pala Mootholi native Anil. The incident happened at 9.45 am yesterday.

Smitha was on her way to attend the festival at Kumaranalloor Devi Temple with her mother Chandrika. The accident happened while she was trying to cross the railway track after getting down from a bus on MC road. Chandrika crossed the track. However, Smitha, who was walking behind her, was hit by the Ernakulam-Kayamkulam MEMU. The body was handed over to the relatives after post-mortem. Children: Amritha Anil and Adithyan Anil. The funeral will take place today morning at 11 am.
