MUMBAI: Mumbai Indians have brought back former player Hardik Pandya to the team ahead of the IPL 2024 season. Hardik, who was a part of Mumbai from 2015 to 2021, went to Gujarat Titans after being released by Mumbai in 2022.
Hardik led Gujarat for two seasons and led the team to the title once. Last season they lost to Chennai in the final. When the list of players retained by the teams came out the other day, the rumours that the player will return to Mumbai had come to an end with Gujarat including Hardik.
However, Mumbai acquired the star through the trade window by spending 15 crore rupees after this. After Hardik Pandya left the team, Gujarat appointed India's young opener Shubman Gill as the new captain.
The challenge faced by Mumbai was that they did not have any money left in their wallets to bring Hardik to the team. To overcome this, Mumbai handed over young Aussie all-rounder Cameron Green, who was acquired for 17.50 crores in the last auction, to RCB.
Mumbai also released Chris Jordan along with another superstar and fast bowler Jofra Archer. Meanwhile, Kerala player Vishnu Vinod has been retained.
