NEW DELHI: The national leadership of Congress has confirmed that Rahul Gandhi will run for re-election from the current Wayanad constituency in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. AICC general secretary Tariq Anwar, overseeing Kerala dismissed rumours suggesting Rahul might opt for a North Indian constituency. Rahul recently expressed a strong emotional bond with Wayanad stating that whenever he visits it feels like home.
Anwar clarified that the party leadership isn't keen on AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal seeking a mandate from Alappuzha emphasizing Venugopal's focus on strengthening the party. Venugopal refrained from contesting in 2019 for this purpose. When questioned about Kannur's sitting MP and KPCC president K Sudhakaran's potential candidacy, Anwar mentioned that it's Sudhakaran's decision to make.
