KOLLAM: Reports said three people are in police custody in connection with the abduction of the child in Oyoor. The reports that came in said three were taken into custody from Tenkasi in Tamil Nadu. One woman and two men are in the custody of the police. The investigation team has also taken into custody two vehicles. They were taken into custody by a special team of Kollam commissioner. There is information that the accused are natives of Chathanur.
Reports said they were taken into custody at 1.45 pm today. It is indicated that the three accused belong to the same family. It is believed that a dispute over financial dealings is the reason for the abduction.
The incident in which a six-year-old girl was abducted from near her house in Oyoor in broad daylight had created a great concern among the people. After the child went missing, the relatives informed the police and they with the locals immediately started a massive search. However, the child was found abandoned the next day at the Ashramam Grounds in the heart of Kollam city.
The police said that a financial dispute was behind the abduction. Three people have been taken into custody while the investigation is going on focusing on the child's father. The police were probing whether there were financial transactions related to the recruitment of nurses and admission to nursing.
