Seven killed, three injured as car falls into well in Maharashtra

MUMBAI: Seven pilgrims were killed and three sustained injuries after their car veered off the road and fell into a well at Jalna in Maharashtra. The accident happened in Vasant Nagar in Badnapur tehsil last evening at 5.30. The dead have been identified as Narayan Nihal (45), Prahlad Bitle (65), Prahlad Mahajan (65), Nanda Tayde (35), Chandrabhga Ghuge, Tarabai Malusare and Ranjana Kamble (35). The injured have been shifted to the nearest government hospital.


The accident happened when they were returning from Pandharpur. Officials informed that the car veered off the road while trying to avoid a bike coming from the opposite direction. There were 12 people in the car including the driver. A crane was brought to extricate the bodies from the vehicle.
