"We should take a firm stance beyond caste": Suresh Gopi on Shahna's suicide

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Actor and former BJP MP Suresh Gopi took to Facebook to react to the suicide of Dr Shahna, a PG student of the medical college. He said that we should take a firm stand beyond caste for girls like Shahna.He added that dowry system must end for better future of our children and women are wealth.

"We should take a firm stance beyond caste, for not only Shahana but for all girls.

For the better future of our children, dowry system must end. Woman is wealth. Those who seek and take dowry must perish.

Dr Shahana should live through minds of women that are strong and self-sufficient. SAY NO TO DOWRY AND SAVE YOUR SONS", Suresh Gopi's Facebook post reads.

Meanwhile, Dr Ruwais, Shahna's fiance and senior in college, was arrested by the medical college police for abetment of suicide. He will be produced in court this evening.

Ruwais was taken into custody from his relative's house in Karunagapally in Kollam and arrest was recorded after hours of questioning.
