Couple found hanging in house in Paravur

PARAVUR: A couple was found dead by hanging inside their home near Kadavath Road. The deceased have been identified as Surendran (47) and his wife Sajitha (44). It is suspected that the couple committed suicide due to financial distress.

For the past few months, the couple had been living in their ancestral home in Peruvaram. On Wednesday, they reportedly visited their house on Kadavath Road, cleaned it, and Sajitha had told neighbours they planned to move back there. The couple returned to Peruvaram in the evening, but came back to the Kadavath Road house later that night.

When they failed to respond to phone calls the next morning, concerned relatives went to check on them and found both hanging in separate rooms of the house.

Surendran was a goods auto-rickshaw driver, and Sajitha had contested as an LDF candidate in the 2015 Paravur municipal elections. They are survived by their daughter, Suryagayathri.
