Gas cylinder explodes during replacement; House in Kalpatta partially destroyed

KALPATTA: A gas cylinder explosion rattled a residence in Venniyode, Kalpatta, Wayanad resulting in the roof being blown off. The incident occurred at Kelukutty's house. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in this alarming event.

The mishap unfolded during the installation of a new cylinder purchased on Wednesday when gas leaked while being fitted. Simultaneously, a nearby wood stove was ablaze. Preliminary investigations suggest the fire near the leaking gas might have triggered the explosion causing the cylinder to burst with a deafening sound.

Kalpatta Fire Force swiftly reached the scene conducting a thorough inspection. The kitchen area bore the brunt of the explosion leaving it completely destroyed. Additionally, the house's windows were shattered and the roof suffered considerable damage due to the force of the blast. Despite the extensive damage, the occupants managed to escape unharmed.
