THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: More details have come out in connection with the suicide of Dr Shahana, a PG student at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College. On the day of her death, Shahana had sent a WhatsApp message to Ruwais stating that she was going to commit suicide. Upon receiving this message, Ruwais blocked her number. Police have received details of this message from Shahana's mobile.

Shahana had sent the message at around 9 am on Monday. She was found unconscious in her flat on that night. However, Ruwais deleted this message from his phone just before the police arrested him.

Meanwhile, the police said that the Shahana had mentioned the name of Ruwais in her suicide note. This has been mentioned in the remand report submitted by the police. The police arrested Ruwais on Thursday based on the suicide note written by Shahana on the OP ticket and her mother's statement.

"Today, I'm ending my life because of his desire for dowry...He intended to ruin my life by promising to marry me. It is true that my family would not be able to give one and a half kilos of gold and an acre of land demanded by him...," Shahana's suicide note read. It was these statements that led to the arrest of Ruwais.
