THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The bail plea of Dr Ruwais, arrested in the suicide case of Dr Shehna, a post graduate student of Thiruvananthapuram Medical College, has been rejected. His plea was rejected by the additional chief judicial magistrate court. Ruwais has been remanded and is in judicial custody now.

The court observed that the charges against Ruwais are serious in nature and that he should be tried by the sessions court. The court said that since the investigation is in the preliminary stage and the investigating officer is seeking the custody of the accused, bail cannot be granted.

Ruwais has been remanded for 14 days. The family of Ruwais, demanded a dowry of 150 sovereigns, a BMW, property and cash. Dr Shehna and Dr Ruwais were in a relationship. Shahna's family said that they cannot meet their demands and was willing to give Rs 50 lakh, 50 sovereigns and a car. However, Ruwais' family was not satisfied with that. When Ruwais said that he could not oppose his family’s decision, Shehna was forced to take the drastic step.
