KOZHIKODE: As many as 500 additional police officials have been deployed in Calicut University in the wake of Governor Arif Muhammad Khan’s scheduled arrival in the place by evening 7 pm. The security was beefed up in the wake of SFI's challenge saying they would not allow the Governor to set foot inside the campus.

The security deployment is planned under the tutelage of Kondotty DYSP. And today, Governor Arif Khan will arrive at the same Calicut campus at 6:50 pm. On Sunday, the Governor will attend the wedding ceremony of Sayyid Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal’s daughter. Then comes the main program, a seminar organized by Bharatiya Vicharakendra and Sanatana Dharma at the university complex at 3:30 pm on Monday. After the event, on Monday night, the governor will return to Thiruvananthapuram.

The governor taking up the challenge has decided to stay inside the campus but not in any guest house. The SFI had earlier protested against the Governor in Thiruvananthapuram, accusing him of inducting BJP supporters into the Senate of Thiruvananthapuram and Calicut universities.
