PALAKKAD: An order has been issued to permanently deduct Rs 500 from the pension of a former government official for his Facebook post against former minister M M Mani and Speaker Sreeramakrishnan. The order is to deduct Rs 500 monthly from the pension amount of Mohammadali, a former personal assistant in Palakkad Education Sub district Office and a former member of NGO union.

His post was against M M Mani's smile and against Sreeramakrishnan’s purchase of specs. Following that, the police and the department got complaints against the post. Mohammadali, confessed to the court in the police case and then paid a fine of Rs 3000, but things did not end there.

Although Mohammadali retired from service in 2021, the departmental enquiry continued. In the hearing conducted by the deputy secretary of public education department, Mohammadali apologized and gave an explanation. The departmental investigation found that the fault was not of a serious nature. However, the order to deduct Rs 500 per month from the pension amount pointed that the code of conduct has been affected. His retirement benefits have also not been paid yet.
