A similar incident happened in Kozhikode the other day. The Malappuram vigilance nabbed overseer P Jaisal and driver Dijilesh. Zainaba after completing the work of her house at Thila in Cherumukku Salamat Nagar had submitted an application at the Nannambra panchayat to get the house number. Jaisal had informed that the number will be given only after the concerned officials examine and correct the defects as the window was placed in a place not in the plan.

Dijilesh told the complainant that if paid Rs 3,000, would tell the overseer and fix everything. Zainaba's son Zaheer Babu informed Malappuram Vigilance DySP M Firoz Shafiq about it. According to this, the vigilance team caught the overseer and the driver while accepting the bribe of Rs 3,000 from the complainant. The accused were produced before the Kozhikode Vigilance Court and remanded.
