Massive increase in Covid cases in Kozhikode district; more than thousand fever patients coming for treatment every day

KOZHIKODE: It is reported that there is a huge spike in Covid cases in Kozhikode district in the state. On an average, more than a thousand people are seeking treatment for fever every day.

This month alone, 25,155 people sought treatment. Of these, 202 people were admitted and treated. 26 people tested positive for Covid and sought treatment at Kozhikode Medical College. Two Covid deaths have also been confirmed in the district. In the last three days, 1174, 1247 and 1052 people sought treatment due to fever. Leptospirosis was also confirmed in 16 people. In addition to fever, many people come for treatment of diarrhea, chicken pox and jaundice. Mumps is also common in children. So far 1572 children have been diagnosed with mumps in the state.

Majority of the covid cases reported in the country are from Kerala. In view of the increase in the number of JN1 cases of the new variant of Covid in the country, the Union Health Department has informed that vigilance should be exercised.

The central government had directed that the Center and the states should make a joint effort to prevent the disease, monitor those who show symptoms of the disease and provide timely treatment to those who are seriously affected by the disease. The Union Minister has directed the states to conduct further checks in the high-level meeting.
