THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Four people have tested positive for the fast-spreading Omicron variant known as JN1, of the Covid-19 virus. Among the confirmed cases, one person has a travel history.

The state's health department issued a warning urging increased vigilance against this highly contagious strain especially with the upcoming festive season of Christmas and New Year.

As the state grapples with a surge in Covid-19 cases, the active case count has now reached 3000 with Kerala reporting a majority of the country's infections.

In light of these developments, the health department advises heightened precautions particularly for the elderly and people with underlying health conditions to curb the spread of the virus.
