KOCHI: Actor and BJP leader Suresh Gopi has sought anticipatory bail from the high court in the case of misbehaving with a journalist. He has filed an anticipatory bail plea under the circumstances of imposing serious charges. The court will consider the bail application the next day.
Kozhikode Nadakkavu Police registered a case against Suresh Gopi on the complaint filed by the journalist alleging that he touched her with bad intentions. A case has been registered under section 35A on the complaint. Although he was released after questioning, a case has been registered against him on non-bailable charges. The complainant gave a confidential statement to the chief judicial magistrate of Thamarasery.
When Suresh Gopi appeared for questioning at Nadakkavu station, many BJP workers gathered in front of the station. He reached the station on foot. Activists came with posters and shouted slogans in favor of the actor. Many people came in support of him. All three lawyers reached the station for Suresh Gopi. BJP State President K Surendran, Shobha Surendran, M T Ramesh and P K Krishnadas also accompanied the actor.
