Mentally ill woman swallows papad picker in Malappuram, hospitalized

KOZHIKODE: A mentally ill woman has been admitted to Kozhikode Medical College in critical condition after swallowing a papad picker. The said 33-year-old woman from Malappuram is undergoing treatment. The woman, who was admitted to a private hospital due to chest pain, was brought to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital on Friday morning. X-ray test found a papad picker in her chest, which was taken out after a two-hour emergency surgery. The picker had pierced through her esophagus and chest. Her trachea, lungs, aorta and left kidney were injured. The woman is undergoing treatment in the cardiac ICU.
