AGARTALA: Tripura Chief Minister, Manik Sarkar lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi's monthly radio program, 'Mann Ki Baat' stating it has garnered more popularity than classic TV serials like 'Mahabharata' and 'Ramayana' which aired on Doordarshan.

Sarkar's commendation came after tuning in to the 108th episode of 'Mann Ki Baat.' He, along with his party workers from Bardovali constituency expressed eagerness for Modi's thoughts, quoting, "What is waiting is to listen to Modiji's Mann Ki Baat."

Reflecting on the past, Sarkar mentioned the societal disapproval faced by women who sought to watch 'Mahabharata' on TV. He highlighted a shift in perception, noting that even critics are now tuning in to 'Mann Ki Baat.' He emphasized that critiquing 'Mann Ki Baat' is fruitless indicating people's ability to comprehend content.

B. R. Chopra's 'Mahabharata' (1988) and Ramanand Sagar's 'Ramayana' (1987) were aired on Doordarshan capturing the audience's attention during that era.
