THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said the opposing forces are trying hard to divide people in the name of sectarianism. The chief minister's response was in a note shared by wishing everyone a happy New Year.

These evil attempts must be resisted and defeated with a sense of unity rooted in high humanity. Hate propaganda can only be countered by joining forces to shape a better society.

The chief minister wished that the New Year celebrations would become declarations of harmony, secularism, love, brotherhood and friendship.
