‘None of us are mixing politics in Thrissur Pooram. His party may be doing it. Thrissur Pooram is the festival of the world. This Pooram is the pride of all Malayalees. There are no political, religious or caste differences in it. If you try to mix politics, it will be difficult,' said the minister.
When asked about Suresh Gopi's candidature in Thrissur, the minister said that no one should think anything special after seeing Thrissur. As per party etiquette, a committee will be convened and announce the candidate. Some will announce alone and it is their interest. Anyway, no one should think anything special after seeing Thrissur. The minister said that it will be like giving halwa on Mittayi Theruvu.
Meantime, Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not mention Suresh Gopi in his 41-minute-long speech, but he became a star in the road show. Suresh Gopi was the only one who got a place in the open jeep along with Mahila Morcha president and BJP state president. Modi did not mention Suresh Gopi even though it was almost certain that he would contest in Thrissur in the Lok Sabha elections.
Modi did not say anything related to the Thrissur candidate but before Modi came, Shobha Surendran, who spoke first, spoke about Suresh Gopi. Also announced that he will become the union minister if he wins. Suresh Gopi's move aiming Thrissur Lok Sabha constituency is active. He was active, including in the BJP-led Karuvannur Padayatra. A graffiti for Suresh Gopi appeared before the prime minister came to Thrissur for the ' woman power with Modi’. So, expected Modi would mention Suresh Gopi's candidature.
