Fuel pump owners decides not to give fuel to this govt department

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With pending arrears of several lakhs, fuel pump owners have decided not to give fuel for police vehicles. This includes dues for the Navakerala Sadas. Night patrols were also stopped at many stations due to lack of fuel. Police use private vehicles and two-wheelers for emergency purposes.

When they ran out of fuel and money, the officials take money from their hands to fill up the fuel and then apply for additional quota. There is arrears of Rs 6 lakhs in Attingal, Rs 10 lakhs in Kilimanoor, Chirayinkeezhu and Kadakkavur for each pump. For the past two days, the police vehicles coming to fill fuel have been sent back from the pump. The pump owners say that this is the first time such a huge amount has accumulated as dues.
