Often fake links come to most phones asking to receive gifts, update personal information, etc. The Malappuram resident who lost more than two lakh rupees by clicking on such a fake link recovered his money with the help of Kerala Police in one hour. The police informed about this through a social media post.
Kerala police recovers the cash within one hour in a case of loss of money due to clicking on a fake link. 2,71,000/- was lost from the account of a resident of Malappuram Tirur who clicked on a phishing link in a fake KYC update message sent as if from State Bank of India. The account holder immediately called the cyber helpline number 1930 and lodged a complaint.
Following this, Kerala Police recovered the lost money within an hour.
The money was lost on the morning of January 6. At 10:13 a complaint was received on cyber helpline no. An immediate investigation by the Cyber Operations Division led to the recovery of the money at 11:09 am. Cyber Police has launched a detailed investigation to trace the fraudsters.
Despite constant awareness, the number of people falling prey to online fraud is increasing.
Do not click on links or reply to any suspicious messages received via SMS, e-mail, WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram etc. Such messages may contain links to phishing sites. By clicking on the link, the scammers get your personal information.
Never respond to messages asking for money or bank information. Banks will never ask you to disclose your account details.
