KOLLAM: Kannur has clinched the top spot at the 62nd State School Youth Festival securing 952 points after a 23-year wait. The closing ceremony held at the main stage of Ashramam ground will witness Megastar Mammootty presenting the gold cup to the winners. Minister KN Balagopal presided over the event.
This marks Kannur's 4th title win and they will take home the coveted gold cup valued at 117.5 sovereign. Kozhikode secured the second position with 949 points followed by Palakkad in third place with 938 points.
Palakkad Alathur BSS Gurukulam Higher Secondary School claimed the top spot with 249 points while Thiruvananthapuram's Vazhuthakkad Carmel Higher Secondary School secured the second position with 116 points.
The ceremony honoured winners with 30 trophies across various categories allowing only 20 children onto the main stage to collect their prizes. A designated area below the stage was arranged for sharing joy and taking photos. The Trophy Committee Office distributed the trophies and winners will soon receive financial incentives and certificates.
