Girls in class fell sick; 12 students admitted to hospital

ALAPPUZHA: 12 girls studying in the same classroom of a school were admitted to hospital after they complained of itching and other difficulties. The incident took place at Government Girls Higher Secondary School in Haripad, Alappuzha.

The girls who fell sick are Plus One students of the school. The incident happened around 12 pm. The students were sitting in the class when they suddenly experienced itching. Soon, their bodies started to swell.

The preliminary conclusion is that the cause of the itching was the worms that were present in the tree near the classroom. Authorities have started an investigation into the incident.
