Police registers arrest of Rahul Mankoottathil in three more cases

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Youth Congress state president Rahul Mankoottathil, who is on remand has been arrested in three more cases. The Cantonment Police registered the arrest at the District Jail. More arrests were made during the clashes in the Secretariat March. Rahul will be produced in the first-class magistrate court today to be remanded in three cases. Non-bailable sections have been charged against Rahul. His bail application was to be considered tomorrow.

In these cases, the court had issued a production warrant the other day as per the request of the police. Apart from this, there is another case registered by the museum police. It is heard by the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court. The police have not yet asked for a production warrant in this case.

Rahul was arrested from his house last Tuesday morning in connection with the clashes in the Secretariat March. Rahul was remanded for two weeks and shifted to Poojappura district jail after the judicial magistrate court rejected his bail plea. Many leaders, including opposition leader VD Satheesan, visited Rahul in jail.

On December 20, the Youth Congress marched to the Secretariat against the police and CPM oppressing the protests against the Nava Kerala Sadas. This resulted in conflict. In the case registered following this, opposition leader VD Satheesan is the first accused. MLAs Shafi Parampil and M Vincent are the second and third accused. Rahul is the fourth accused in the case.
