THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, the state police have gone through a major reshuffle. Seven IPS officers, including four IGs, five additional SPs and 114 DySPs have been transferred. 9 senior CIs have been promoted as DySPs.
South Region IG Sparjan Kumar has been given full charge of Security IG. IG Vigilance Harshita Attaluri has been made IG of Police Headquarters. Kochi City Police Commissioner A Akbar has been made Ernakulam Crime Branch IG. Internal Security IGS Shyamsundar is the Kochi City Police Commissioner. AIG of Police Headquarters, T Narayanan, has been made the Wayanad District police chief. From there Padam Singh is the policy department AIG. D Shilpa, who was on this charge, has been made the Procurement AIG at Police Headquarters.
This transfer is because the Election Commission will transfer those who are working in their own district and who have been in a district for three years, if they are not transferred before the general elections. The transfer list of up to SIs will be released the next day. The district police chiefs will be changed before the election notification.
