'Congress workers believe in Lord Ram'; says Shashi Tharoor in Thiruvananthapuram

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: I pray to lord Ram every day so tell me why should I give him to BJP ?, asked Shashi Tharoor in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday.

Shashi Tharoor's words:

"Lord Ram is for all. I never opposed the Ram temple but I had differences with how BJP conducted the event. The real meaning of secularism is not to show interest in any particular religion. BJP wants all Ram worshipers to vote for them. They will soon term all those who did not attend the temple dedication ceremony as anti-Hindu. There are people in Congress too who believe in Ram." said Shashi Tharoor at a function held at a law college in Thiruvananthapuram.

I wrote on Facebook about what I thought about the issue. No secular minds will get hurt by my Facebook post. And there is no need for an apology from my side.

Jai Shree Ram is no longer a prayer chant but has turned into a political slogan. People in north India say ‘Jai Siya Ram’ every morning while exchanging social pleasantries. There is no doubt that many people want to witness Ram Temple in their lifetime and it has turned true.

I am always against what RSS did to Babri masjid in Ayodhya. However, there are some Muslims who think that the place should have been given away to Hindus when the archaeological findings confirmed the remnants of a Hindu temple on the spot.
