ALAPPUZHA: Chief minister’s gunman and security official will not appear for interrogation in the case of attacking youth congress activists while protesting against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan during Nava Kerala Sadas. Gunman Anil and security official Sandeep informed south police station in Alappuzha that as they are on leave cannot appear and promised to appear on a normal day.

A complaint was filed against the two for attacking KSU district president A D Thomas and Youth Congress leader Ajay Jewel Kuriakose. The information received earlier was that Anil and Sandeep will appear at the police station today for detailed questioning. The investigating officer had asked them to appear in the case registered by the South Police against Anil and Sandeep as per the court order.

When the chief minister and the ministers were going to Nava Kerala Sadas in Ambalapuzha constituency by bus, the two were attacked at the General Hospital junction on December 16. Thomas sustained injuries on his head and Ajay fractured his hand when resorted to lathicharge. Both filed a complaint with the South Police, but no case was registered. Subsequently, in a case filed through the court, the court after examining the video evidence of the incident, the nature of the injuries and the medical records, ordered to file a case against both of them. As per the court order, the witnesses were summoned and testified in the case registered by the police, but the accused security personnel were not ready to be summoned.

A case has been registered against them under IPC Sections 294 B, 326 and 324. When Thomas and Ajay Jewel were about to move the court again against the action of not even being prepared to question the accused, the police decided to summon the officers.
