Wisely refused invitation to enter vaults of Padmanabhaswamy Temple, reveals consequences of not going

Aswathti Thirunal Gowri Lakshmi Bhai Thampuratty said that despite having the opportunity to open and see the vaults of Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple, she was not ready to do so. She revealed the secret in a special interview given to Kaumudy TV on the occasion of conferring her with Padma Shri Award.

‘We received an invitation to enter the vault of the Padmanabhaswamy temple. The invitation was to visit the vault. However, I wisely didn't look at it because I felt that if we go there, people would say that some ring or stone was taken from it keeping it either in the blouse or in the hand. What all was said about my uncle Uthradam Thirunal Marthanda Verma. People saying this do not know the reality. However, the hearers think otherwise. Even today I have not seen those vaults,’ she said.

Aswathi Thirunal said receiving Padma Shri is a great recognition. She said that she has received 52 awards including national and local. She clarified that she views the Padma Shri award with full respect as an award given by the country.
