THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister J Chinchu Rani has publicly expressed her displeasure over the decrease in the allocation in the budget for animal husbandry and dairy development. After the Delhi strike, the protest in this regard will be directly conveyed to the Chief Minister and the Finance Minister. "The budget allocation is 40 percent less than last year. No new schemes were announced to promote milk production. I hope that the problem can be solved," Chinchu Rani said.
Food Minister GR Anil also expressed his displeasure over the neglect of Supplyco in the budget. After that, another CPI minister also protested the neglect of his own department. However, Minister Chinchu Rani told the media that he did not think that CPI ministers were specifically discriminated against.
There was a deduction of Rs 43.5 crore for animal husbandry sector and 5.51 crore for dairy development sector as compared to last year. No new schemes were announced to promote milk production. In last year's budget, 320.64 crores were allocated for animal husbandry and 114.76 crores for dairy development. Rs 42.33 crores were granted for commercial dairy development activities and milk shed development activities and Rs 2.40 crores for expansion of dairy village scheme. In this year's budget, only Rs 277.14 crores were allocated for animal husbandry and Rs 109.25 crores for dairy development.
