Sparkling Water, the new trendsetter in Kerala

Recently while on a ride in the sweltering heat of Thiruvananthapuram, it occurred to my friend to visit a shop, just to buy some cold drink to beat the heat. But to my surprise, he came back swinging his hands, which held a bottle with a frothing liquid.

I have seen this trend buoying in the social media space. Sparkling water is the new catch for many and is sleek considering the uniqueness it offers. I have been intrigued by the trend going on in social media space but have never had the chance to try the drink even once.

Sparkling water is now doing great business across the state and mostly in the capital city. The drink now touted as a delicious alternative to drinking water is already the talk of the town and has hit the right chords with the youths.

Sparkling water comes with an additional frothiness and is flavoured in a way to suit various customer bases, mostly youth. However, there are concerns regarding the possible health concerns the drink could inflict. Contrary to popular belief, sparkling water is not that detrimental to health. Meanwhile, it is said that the drink works better in hydration similar to normal water.

Sparkling water comes without any added sugar or additives and is best when gulped right after a strenuous workout session or when drained out. The drink is sure to give an energizing effect due to the carbonation.

However, overconsumption of this drink can also invite small physical concerns physically. Daily consumption of sparkling water can erode tooth enamel due to its acidic content. This frequent consumption can also have dire effects on the stomach, causing irritation due to its acidic content.

Albeit this minor warning, sparkling water is selling like hotcakes in Kerala. For people who are fans of anything tart, this could be your ideal drink. If the trend is to be discerned, sparkling water will replace other major carbonated drinks in the market to become the new sought-after one among youths.
