'Forest department deliberately supporting homicide'; should allow farmers to live, says Bishop Pamplany

KOTTAYAM: Thalassery Archdiocese Archbishop Mar Joseph Pamplany said the government has an inhuman attitude towards the farmers. He responded after pointing the wildlife attacks in Wayanad. There were major lapses from the side of the government. The forest department is a complete failure in the state, alleged Pamplany.

The elephant reaching Wayanad was not informed. The forest officials did not issue a warning. The forest officials are deliberately supporting homicide. Pamplany demanded to register a case against the officials. Announcing a compensation of Rs 10 lakh after death is shameful. We don't want money, should allow to live. No government can move forward without addressing the farmers’ issues. They are enraged. None of their demands have been executed. The archbishop said that elections are a platform for people to express their protest in democracy.

Pamplany also reacted to P C George's entry into the BJP. He said P C George had informed him about joining the BJP. Pamplany added that he had not blessed anyone and he only said that he was joining BJP.

Earlier, George had claimed earlier that he was joining the BJP with the blessings of the Archbishop of Thalassery.
