People in UAE gather in large numbers hearing Modi’s name, 65,000 to attend ‘Ahlan Modi'

ABU DHABI: 65,000 people have registered for the 'Ahlan Modi' event organized in the UAE, in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi is participating. Jitendra Vaidya, president of Indian People Forum and organizer of 'Ahlan Modi', informed this.

‘This is a very unique type of event because it is not a programme conducted by an organization. A whole community is with it. As you know, people gather hearing the name of the Prime Minister. This is the people's love for Modi. More than 65,000 people have registered for the event. So, we have closed the registration on February 2nd itself,’ Jitendra Vaidya told a news agency. There are about 3.5 million Indians in the UAE. This is about 35 percent of the country's population.

More than 700 cultural artists will participate in 'Ahlan Modi' programme. They will perform a variety of Indian arts. People from different communities in India will present artistic programs that evoke different cultures. Enthusiasm for 'Nari Shakti' is also included. The organizing committee also said that women empowerment, communal harmony and participation will be promoted.

Indian Ambassador to UAE Sunjay Sudhir had said in an earlier interview that the people of UAE are keen to listen to hear the words of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that registration had to be capped at 65,000 as more people could not be accommodated.

This is Modi's third visit to the UAE in the last eight months. During his visit, Modi will hold bilateral talks with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The two leaders will discuss ways to deepen, expand and strengthen the strategic partnership between the countries. Views will be exchanged on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
