Youth beheads wife, walks with severed head on road; arrested

LUCKNOW: Police have arrested a youth who beheaded his wife and walked with the severed head on the road. The arrested person has been identified as Uttar Pradesh native Anil. The pictures and videos of Anil walking with the severed head of his wife in one hand and a knife in the other had circulated on social media. Following this, he was arrested by the police.

Anil, who got married 8 years ago, had been living separately from his wife. According to the police, the accused murdered his wife out of suspicion that she was having an extramarital affair. Anil and his wife have two children.

A similar incident had taken place in West Bengal last Wednesday. Following a quarrel, East Midnapore native Gautam Guchait killed his wife by chopping her head with a country-made cutlass and then came out of his house carrying the severed head and the murder weapon. He then reached a local tea shop, sat on a bench and kept the severed head and the cutlass on either side. After some time, a team from the Patashpur police station reached the spot and arrested Guchait.
