THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Governor Arif Mohammad Khan will visit Wayanad on Monday as the district has been marred by recurring incidents of wild animal attacks. On Sunday evening, Governor Khan will head towards Mananthavady from Thiruvananthapuram by road. He will also visit the bereaved families of those killed in the fatal elephant attacks.
The governor’s visit may spark a political debate since neither Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan nor Forest Minister A K Saseendran have visited the district even after the wild animal attack took three lives in the last 17 days. It will also be looked upon how the governor will work his ameliorating tactics with the incensed locals of the district.
On Sunday morning, Congress leader and Wayanad MP reached the district and visited the houses of those killed in the elephant attack. The Congress leader arrived in Wayanad on Sunday morning after temporarily suspending the ‘Bharat Nyay Yatra’ that has now reached Uttar Pradesh. Upon reaching Wayanad, Rahul Gandhi first reached the house of Ajeesh and later visited Paul’s house. AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal accompanied Rahul throughout the visit.
