Seventh-class student ends life, teachers’ mental harassment behind act, says complaint

ALAPPUZHA: The family of the seventh-class student, who committed suicide, has filed a complaint against the teachers. The complaint lodged said Prajith of Kattoor Azhiyakath House, said he ended his life following the mental harassment of the school authorities. The boy’s father, Manoj, filed a complaint with the chief minister, Alappuzha district collector and the police in this regard.


Prajith hanged himself in his uniform after returning from school on February 15. On that day, Prajith’s friend developed uneasiness and that time he had accompanied him near the pipe to drink water. Soon a teacher announced through a mike that some students are missing and hearing this Prajith ran to the class and immediately the teacher caned him and examined his body.

At this time, the teacher looked carefully into his eyes and asked, ‘do you use ganja ?' Another teacher summoned and questioned him. The boy’s father in the complaint mentioned that both the teachers insulted him and beat him in front of other students.


Prajith’s classmates told all these things to his parents. The complaint said that while leaving school, Prajith asked his friends whether any of the teachers are in
the bus stand. Prajith took a different route to reach home on that day.


Meantime, a case of unnatural death has been registered in the incident. However, the police explained that there were no beat marks on his body. The teachers’ statements have been recorded and the students’ statements will be registered in the coming days.
