Woman, newborn baby dies after childbirth at home due to excessive bleeding

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A woman and her baby died following childbirth due to bleeding at Nemom's Karakkamandapam. The woman gave birth to the child at her house and died on the way to the hospital. The deceased have been identified as Shamina, a native of Poonthura, and her newborn baby.

The delivery started at 3 pm on Tuesday. The baby partially came out but then got stuck and started bleeding. Efforts to get the baby out continued at home till 5.30 pm. The woman was admitted to a private hospital in the city around 6 pm. The baby died before reaching the hospital.
