KSRTC bus collides with bike; couple returning from hospital dead

PALA: A tragic incident occurred on the Pala Uzhavoor road in Pendanamvayal yesterday at 2 pm, resulting in the death of a couple returning from the general hospital. PN Rajan (54) and his wife Seetha (54) from Cherukkai were fatally struck by a KSRTC bus. The couple had stopped at a hotel in Pendanamvayal for food but as they were turning their bike to leave due to heavy traffic, the bus collided with them.

KSRTC bus, traveling from Ernakulam to Mundakkayam collided with their bike pinning it between the front wheel of the bus and carrying it for about 10 meters before coming to a halt. It took considerable effort to extract the couple from beneath the bus. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Rajan succumbed to his injuries. Rajan operated a shop at RPS Junction, Valavoor while Seetha worked at Alphonsa Eye Hospital. Their son Rahul had passed away in a bike accident seven years prior.
