ALAPPUZHA: KPCC president K Sudhakaran said that there was a mystery behind the death of CPM leader Kunjananthan, an accused in the TP Chadrasekharan murder case. Sudhakaran alleged that Kunjananthan was poisoned to death. Sudhakaran raised this allegation during the press conference held in connection with the Samaragni rally of the Congress.

"There is a mystery behind the death of Kunjananthan. It is said that Kunjananthan died after consuming poisoned food. However, the rumour is that he was poisoned to death by someone. Kunjananthan lost his life a few days after he said at a party committee that he would reveal everything. A re-investigation is needed. An independent agency should conduct an investigation to reveal the truth," Sudhakaran said.

It was Muslim League leader KM Shaji who first alleged that there was mystery surrounding Kunjananthan's death. Following this, Congress took up the matter.

"The CPM connections of the accused in the TP murder case came out during the investigation during the term of the UDF. A proper investigation should be conducted into the murder of the CPM local secretary in Koyilandy. CPM is the party which has always carried out planned murders to divert attention from political controversies. 78 people have been killed in Kannur alone. They tried to kill me six times. CPM should give up the politics of violence," Sudhakaran said.
