Honour killing in Tamil Nadu; Youth hacked to death by wife's brother and friends

CHENNAI: Another honour killing in Tamil Nadu. A young man was hacked to death by his wife's relatives. Praveen (25), a resident of Pallikaranai near Chennai, was killed by his wife Sharmi's brother and relatives.

The incident took place in front of a bar in Pallikarana last night. A gang of four surrounded Praveen and brutally hacked him to death in front of the bar. He was seriously injured and rushed to the hospital but he died. It is reported that Praveen was attacked by people including Sharmi's brother Dinesh.

Praveen and Sharmi got married last November. Sharmi's family opposed the marriage. The police have registered a case against five people in the incident. The body has been shifted to Chrompet Government Hospital for post-mortem.
