KOCHI: The Kerala High Court asked the prosecution whether there is a situation to award death penalty to the accused in the T P Chandrashekaran murder case. The court asked what was the reason for seeking death penalty for the elderly accused. The high court's question was during the argument on increasing the punishment of the accused found guilty in the T P murder case.

Accused K K Krishnan and Jyothi Babu have many health issues. Is there no possibility of repentance for the other accused? The Supreme Court has said that all these matters should be considered while pronouncing the verdict. The court said death penalty is awarded only in rarest of rare cases. A bench comprising of Justice A K Jayasankaran Nambiar and Justice Kausar is considering the plea filed by K K Rema MLA, wife of T P Chandrashekaran, seeking an increase in the punishment of the accused.

The prosecution pointed in the court that the accused implemented the speech delivered by K K Krishnan. While serving the sentence in the TP murder case, there have been other cases against one to seven accused. There is no possibility that the accused will repent. The murder committed was brutal. It was not a sudden killing but a planned one. The prosecution also stated that the murder was committed by CPM supporters.

Meanwhile, the report of the jail authorities against one of the accused, K C Ramachandran, also surfaced. The report mentioned that Ramachandran has no guilt even after serving a long time in jail. The report on the mental and physical condition of the accused and the report on their behavior in the jail has been handed over to the court.
