Burqa-clad woman sprays chilli powder to rob gold and money, gets arrested; earlier convicted for 'Koodathayi' model crime

THRIPPUNITHURA: A woman was arrested here for allegedly assaulting the owner of a chit fund company and stealing gold and money after spraying a mixture of chilli powder on his face. The arrested Faseela (36) of Padinjarethil in Karimpuzha in Palakkad, lives on rent in Thripunithura.

The incident took place on February 21 at 9:30 am. Wearing a burqa, Faseela attacked KN Sukumaramenon (75), owner of San Premier Chits, near the old bus stand and stole a necklace worth three sovereigns and Rs 10,000. No one else was in the establishment at the time.

The accused was identified by the police during the investigation focused on the CCTV cameras and arrested on Tuesday morning from Palakkad. The police said that Faseela was convicted of trying to kill her father-in-law in the 'Koodathayi' model by poisoning his food. The police also stated that her habit of robbery is to find money for a luxurious life.

The accused was nabbed by SIs Tolson Joseph, Reshma, ASI Ranjith Lal, SCPO Baiju, Paul Michael, CL Bindu and CPO Ansar under the leadership of Hill Palace Station SHO Anand Babu.
