NEW DELHI: Broker Nandakumar has made an allegation that a hawala dealer, who set off to Kerala with Rs 100 crores to be distributed among the NDA candidates in Kerala, left the country with the money. Speaking at a press conference in Delhi, Nandakumar said that each NDA candidate in the state was supposed to be given Rs 5 crore. However, the hawala dealer left the country before arriving in Kerala.
"As the money did not reach Kerala, the NDA candidates in the state did not have enough money for election campaigns. This incident took place during the first phase of the elections," Nandakumar said.
Nandakumar also revealed that although he gave Rs 10 lakhs to BJP leader Sobha Surendran in 2014, she has not returned the money till now. He also produced the bank receipt of the transaction during the press conference. He said that although he had constantly asked Sobha Surendran's accomplices to return the money, they replied that the money would be returned during the time of the elections.
"The Congress's account was shut down, and funding ceased. With this, the account that provided money to the Kerala unit of the BJP was also closed. Thus, the funds of the BJP did not come to the state. The cash intended for the NDA candidates in Kerala never made it to the state. That money was lost before reaching Kodakara. I would have received my 10 lakhs if that money had made it to the BJP leaders. That money, though, was lost from another state," Nandakumar said.
