THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: It is hinted that KPCC chief K Sudhakaran has informed in the AICC screening meeting that he cannot contest from Kannur in the Lok Sabha elections. He cited health issues for not contesting the polls. The decisions of the meeting will be discussed at the central authority meet in New Delhi.

Since M V Jayarajan is contesting as a CPM candidate, the party is of the opinion that K Sudhakaran should contest in Kannur. Therefore, the central leadership should take the final decision. There are reports that if Sudhakaran is not in the fray, KPCC general secretary K Jayanth will be nominated as a candidate, but this has not been confirmed yet.
