Viral hepatitis infection; Two deaths in Malappuram, Health Department issues warning

MALAPPURAM: The Health Department has issued a warning against the spread of viral hepatitis in Malappuram. Two people had died in Malappuram due to the disease in the last few days. The disease was confirmed in Pothukal and Edakkara panchayats. According to the report of the health department, 152 people have been diagnosed with the disease.

Officials said that restrictions have been imposed on the operation of cool bars and hotels in Pothukal and Edakkara. After testing the water from six wells in the area, it was found that the water from three wells was unusable. The DMO has directed that people should use only clean drinking water. People with symptoms such as fever, fatigue, vomiting, and abdominal pain are advised to seek medical treatment and notify health workers.
