POOKODE: Pro-Chancellor Minister J Chinchu Rani said strict action will be taken in the incident in connection with the suicide of Siddharth, a student of Pookode Veterinary College in Wayanad. While talking to the media, the minister said strict action will be taken against the accused irrespective of what party they are associated with. Governor Arif Muhammad Khan will visit Siddharth's house today.
SFI college union president K Arun, college unit secretary Amal Ihsan and another youth surrendered before the police last night. Their arrest will be recorded today. The main conspirator Akhil (28) was arrested the other day. Eight more people have to be arrested again.
Siddharth (21) of Nedumangad and a second-year BVSC student, was found hanging in the bathroom of the hostel on February 18. SFI activists stripped Siddharth on February 16 and beat him brutally in front of the college hostel. He was kicked in the stomach and punched in the chest. He was beaten with two belts until it broke. After the attack, he was locked in the room and observed. Warned others that if the information is disclosed, would kill them. The attack continued the next day also. Siddharth was mentally shattered after beaten in front of his friends. He entered the bathroom saying that he wanted to take a bath and was later found hanging.
Meantime, Siddharth's family is firm in their stand that their son was killed and hanged. They also said that the real culprits, including the SFI unit office bearers, have not been named accused.
