KOLLAM: Sinjo Johnson, the main accused who heinously tortured Siddharth and later issued death threats to other students, have been arrested from Karunagappally, Kollam. Another accused Kashinadhan also surrendered before the police. With this, 13 people have surrendered before the police, related to the death of Siddharth who was a student of Pookode Veterinary and Animal Sciences University. Siddharth's father T Jayaprakash had said that SFI's unit in-charge, Sinjo Johnson, had masterminded all the violence against Siddharth.
Earlier, four former SFI workers had surrendered before police in the death of Siddharth. Apart from the accused who surrendered before the investigating officers on Thursday night, another student surrendered before the court on Friday. Amin Akbar Ali (25), a native of Malappuram and a fourth-year student, surrendered in the Kalpetta Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court. Amin’s arrest was recorded and he was remanded.
The arrest of college union president K Arun, union member Asif Khan, who surrendered on Thursday, and SFI unit secretary Amal Ishan, who was caught by the police, was also recorded on Friday. The case is being investigated by a 24-member team led by Kalpetta DYSP T N Sajeevan. The district police chief will lead the investigation.
