Google restores popular apps on Play Store amid criticism

KOCHI: Following the removal of popular apps like Shaadi.com, Naukri, etc. from the Play Store, Google reinstated them due to criticism and the intervention of the Centre.

Google delisted 10 digital applications after announcing its plan to take action against developers who had refused to comply with its payment policy, despite following the payment policies of other app stores. Meanwhile, Electronics & Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw will hold talks with Google representatives regarding the removal of 10 popular applications from the Play Store. “Government takes strong view of Google de-listing some apps from Play Store and it will not allow this de-listing of apps," the minister had said earlier.

Google had delisted apps like Kuku FM, Bharat Matrimony, Shaadi.com, Naukri.com, 99 acres, Truly Madly, Quack Quack, Stage, ALTT (Alt Balaji), and two others.
