NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh arrested in a corruption case related to Delhi government's liquor policy, has been granted bail. The Supreme Court granted bail to Sanjay Singh presently jailed in Tihar Jail. The Supreme Court clarified that bail conditions can be decided by the trial court. Meantime, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) did not oppose granting bail to Sanjay Singh. Sanjay Singh was granted bail after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was denied bail and sent to Tihar Jail.

The ED arrested Sanjay Singh in October last year. The ED officials raided the official residence on Delhi North Avenue in the morning. After being interrogated for 10 hours, he was arrested under the Money Laundering Act. When Sanjay Singh was arrested and taken away, the activists protested by lying down in front of the vehicle creating a tense situation. Some threw chairs at the police. The workers were forcibly moved to make way for the vehicle.

The ED alleged that Sanjay Singh used middleman Dinesh Arora to raise funds for AAP under the guise of liquor policy. In the video recorded before his arrest, Sanjay Singh had severely criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi. AAP's stand was that Sanjay Singh was arrested for taking a stand against Adani.
