Lawyer commits suicide after insulted by juniors

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A lawyer identified as V S Anil of Ambili Hill in Vamanapuram, was found hanging at his home Monday morning at 2 am. He was 60. He was an advocate of Attingal bar. He ended his life after posting a suicide note at the WhatsApp group of lawyers. He was found hanging by his family in a search conducted on being informed by his colleagues seeing the message in the WhatsApp group.

His message said
‘This is my first and last post in this group. This is a note of someone going to end his life. (Praying that don't fail there too) This message is no one else should have this experience. My name is Anil V S, a junior advocate.

I am leaving as I could not bear the harassment of two junior advocates in the same office and the insult caused by them. They gathered people and came to my house and insulted me at midnight. I have never faced such a situation in my life. The note said that he was insulted in front of everyone’. He had mentioned the names of the two junior lawyers. He has cautioned people close to them. One’s life or family should not be ruined by these two. That is why I mentioned about it in the message.

Anil was practicing as a lawyer after retiring from the department of tourism as deputy director. He was staying alone in the house. Police have taken steps.

He leaves behind his wife Sudharmani (retired accountant general) and children Sankaran, Shambu and Gowri. He will be laid to rest Wednesday afternoon at 2.30 pm.
